Collins Hill High School is part of the Gwinnett County School System and there are 3,054 students enrolled.  Founded in 1994, the Collins Hill Orchestra began as a 56 person orchestra program under the direction of Mr. John Harriman. After Mr. John Harriman, Mr. Michael Giel was the head director from 2007-2012.  Ms. Rosie Riquelme took over the program in 2012, and Mr. Jake Hood joined the program in 2017.  The Collins Hill Orchestra program is dedicated and committed to the growth of string orchestra education and performances throughout the metro Atlanta community. The vast majority of students in the program are products of the Creekland Middle School Orchestra, under the direction of Mrs. Michelle Ragan.  These orchestras consistently receive straight superior ratings at the GMEA District XIII Large Group Performance Evaluations.  In addition, in 2016 the Collins Hill High School Chamber Orchestra was selected to perform at the national ASTA conference, and in 2017 was selected to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Association conference. The Collins Hill Orchestra has individuals that also participate in the All-State Full and String Orchestras, Governors Honors Program, Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony, and Gwinnett County Youth Symphony.
